FRED Film Radio is joining the When East Meets West co-production market of the Trieste Film Festival in Italy, which runs from the 24th to the 26th of January, 2016.
WHEN EAST MEETS WEST is organized by the FVG Audiovisual Fund and the Trieste Film Festival, WEMW is organized by the FVG Audiovisual Fund and the Trieste Film Festival in collaboration with EAVE, Maia Workshops, EURIMAGES, and the support of Creative Europe/MEDIA Programme, Direzione Centrale per il Cinema – MIBACT and CEI – Central European Initiative.
The main aim is to bring together every year financiers, decision makers and film professionals coming from Eastern European countries, Italy and another selected Western region (a different one every year). After a first focus on the French film industry in 2011, the Nordic countries in 2012, the German speaking Countries in 2013, the Benelux in 2014, the English speaking countries in 2015, the next 2016 edition wishes to encourage and build up new important connections with Spain, Portugal and Latin America.
The programme will include different actions:
20 outstanding projects in development from Eastern Europe, Italy and the spotlight region will be presented to a large panel of decision makers and financiers. Along with the pitching and the pre-arranged individual meetings, the Forum will include a rich programme with panels and case studies dedicated to co-production opportunities with the countries in focus.
FIRST CUT LAB
Workshop designed for 3 long feature fiction films in editing phase from Eastern Europe and Italy. Selected producer/director teams will receive expert feedback from top festival programmers, sales agents, creative producers and tailor-made advice from a consulting editor.
LAST STOP TRIESTE
Work in progress section for documentary projects from Eastern Europe and Italy. Last Stop Trieste will present 4 documentaries in advanced editing stage previously developed either at Ex-Oriente Film, BDC Discoveries by Balkan Documentary Center, Docu Rough Cut Boutique in Sarajevo or presented at the previous editions of When East Meets West and Baltic Sea Forum.
#FEEDback is a think-tank platform that aims to collect and discuss assessments in Eastern European countries on possible means and ways to increase cross-border relations, the permeability between the smaller territories and moving towards a joint agenda on funding, reaching audiences and innovative distribution.
