Selman Nacar‘s very convincing film, “Hesitation Wound“, gives life to a strong female leading character, criminal lawyer Canan, who faces both a professional and ethical crisis while engaged in the defense of a murder suspect.
A matter of balance
Selman Nacar talks with Fred Radio’s reporter Ilaria Gomarasca about the right balance to find, especially in a trial film, between what parts to hide and what parts to show about the trial, facing the challenge of saying too much or not enough to the public about the case.
Compelling interpretation
Tülin Özen offers a great performance in her role of Canan. “Even though I preferred to shoot the film from Canan’s subjective perspective, my focus is not on the outcome of her choices but on the consequences of her trial.” says Nacar.
Plot
Criminal lawyer Canan divides her time between mornings in court and evenings in her mother’s hospital bed. On the day of the sentencing hearing of a murder suspect whom Canan is defending, she must make a moral choice that will affect the lives of her mother, the judge, and the defendant.
