"Hoard", interview with director Luna Carmoon Angelo Acerbi

Podcast | Download

Hoard, the first feature film by Luna Carmoon, is a powerful and surprising tale  on the concept of memory and grief and how they connect, starting from a personal inspiration from   her life. Memory could be an escape but at the same time a survival tool, as she explains through her creativity.

Memory of childhood

The memory of her life with her nan is a strong inspiration for the film;  memory stays with you and cannot be shut down when you grow up, it shows up unexpected and uninvited.

Film references

Luna Carmoon is self educated , she does not attend any film school; her formation comes from the British films of the 70’s and 80’s, thank to her nan that made her watch anything that was new and daring.

Hoard” won The Film Club Audience Award and a special mention for actress Saura Lightfoot Leon.

Plot

1984: There’s a landfill in our living room
Mother and Maria’s world feels like sparkles down spines, Christmas is every day in their nidus of love
1994: He handed her to me, its weight would come in waves
Maria’s last day of school. As she arrives home, at the top stairs, waiting, are two bare feet. A tall odd man, a stranger who has a familiar scent of trauma, a childhood pain, a gemini of knowing stings – Michael
