Festival Section: Competition.
FRED film radio were fortunate enough to grab hold of directors Federico Ferrone and Michele Manzolini literally a couple of hours ahead of their world premiere of documentary IL TRENO A VA MOSCA/ THE TRAIN TO MOSCOW. The movie is an incredible slice of life in 1957 Alfonsine, Italy where communist barber Suaro Ravaglia and his friends journey to Moscow for a communist rally for youth and students, armed with super 8 cameras and plenty of film stock. The result? This movie, which is 90 percent archive footage and a fascinating watch.
