FRED Film Radio is joining the 2017 edition of Il Cinema Ritrovato in Bologna, Italy, on June 29-July 2.
Just one year away from its 30th-anniversary celebrations, Il Cinema Ritrovato returns to Bologna, Italy. The festival acts as a time machine, exploring three centuries of cinema, beginning from the end of the 1800s to the start of the 21st century. It also takes its audience on many journeys through European, American, African, Asian and Latin American cinema. Those attending get a chance to discover never-before-seen works and rediscover beloved ones through screenings of best copies, newly restored, with ideal projection conditions. Every edition is a unique one-off experience.
Besides screenings, many experts and professionals attend and host a variety of events, masterclasses, and workshops. An amazing team of musicians and composers accompany the silent film screenings. Scholars and cinephiles alike attend Il Cinema Ritrovato from across the world. As the website reads, “Il Cinema Ritrovato is a grand museum of film, open for just nine days a year.” However, it is more than a “museum” – it is nothing short of a glorious celebration of film heritage.
