FRED is pleased to present the new episode of Accessible Cinema, a new periodical programme on media accessibility and inclusion, fostered by Sub-ti Access. This programme aims to inform its listeners and keep you updated on the status of media accessibility. We hope to raise awareness on accessibility in media and live entertainment, which is one of the 8 priority areas of the European Disability Strategy 2010 – 2020.
This new episode of Accessible Cinema is dedicated to the changes that the Covid-19 pandemic has brought to the field of media accessibility: from the importance of accessibility of information and culture to the need for equal access to digital content and entertainment. What is the role of accessibility in Covid times? How’s it changing and how will it change? To know more about that, Francesca Raffi interviews Agnieszka Szarkowska and Anna Jankowska.
Agnieszka Szarkowska is Associate Professor in the Institute of Applied Linguistics, University of Warsaw and head of AVT Lab, one of the first research groups on audiovisual translation. Click here to discover more about her.
Anna Jankowska is Lecturer in the Chair for Translation Studies and Intercultural Communication at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow (Poland) and she is also the founder and president of the Seventh Sense Foundation which provides audio description and subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
