È un western di mare, una storia d’amore, Re Granchio, opera prima di finzione di Alessio Rigo de Righi e Matteo Zoppis, presentato alla Quinzaine des Realizateurs. I due registi che vengono dal mondo del documentario ci accompagnano dentro i racconti e le leggende apprese nella casina di caccia dove hanno raccolto materiale anche per i loro lavori precedenti. Con la passione per il cinema di genere che parla di modernità e dialoga con l’oggi, i due si augurano che il passaggio alla Quinzaine sia solo il primo passo per una diffusione del loro film al più vasto pubblico possibile.

Re Granchio : Italia, giorni nostri. Alcuni vecchi cacciatori ricordano insieme la storia di Luciano. Tardo Ottocento, Luciano è un ubriacone che vive in un borgo della Tuscia. Il suo stile di vita e la sua ribellione al dispotico principe locale lo hanno reso un reietto per il resto della comunità. In un estremo tentativo per proteggere dal principe la donna che ama, Luciano commette un atto scellerato che lo costringe a fuggire in esilio nella Terra del Fuoco. Qui, la ricerca di un mitico tesoro, al fianco di marinai senza scrupoli, si trasforma per lui in un’occasione di redenzione. Ma la febbre dell’oro non può seminare che tradimento, avidità e follia in quelle terre desolate.
