An interview with Dayna Goldfine, co-director with Dan Geller of the documentary Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, a Journey, a Song, presented out of competition at the 78th Venice Film Festival. As the title suggests, the documentary is about the great poet/singer/songwriter but it also explores the life of a song as iconic as “Hallelujah,” the many ways it shape and moulds over the years, becoming its own thing. In this interview, Goldfine offers insight into the multi-year work that this project required and the challenge of working within a structure that is different from the typical biographical documentary. She also shares her personal memories of first becoming aware of Leonard Cohen and more.

Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, a Journey, a Song : This feature-length documentary explores the life of singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen as seen through the prism of his internationally renowned hymn, Hallelujah.
