Stepan Altrichter – Filmmaker – Schmitke
FRED’s Matt Micucci meets filmmaker Stepan Altrichter, whose film Schmitke was screened in the New Europe Competition of the 22nd Febiofest – Prague International Film Festival.
Stepan talks with us about where the inspiration for Schmitke came from, how he ended up casting Peter Kurth in the leading role for his film and how it is important to know the rules before you can break them.
Aside from talking about Schmitke, which also marks his feature directorial debut, he also reveals to us a little something about a future project he has in mind…
Schmitke is an old German wind turbine engineer. One day, he is dispatched to the Czech side of the Ore Mountains to fix an old squeaking wind turbine. His colleague disappears and mysterious things begin to happen in the forest.
