With his decision of having a 111 kg young man to play his protagonist in Mercenaries, Sacha Wolff has gotten himself access to Cannes Film FEstival and now Torino Film Festival . Thanks to his documentary background, Wolff describes in a very detailed way the journey of young Soane literally jumping from the world of New Caledonia to the cruel one of modern France and rugby players.
Mercenaire: Through the intercession of shifty Abraham, Soane moves from his native Polynesia to France to become a professional rugby player. Because of a mishap he ends up on a second-rate team. Even though he is a French citizen, he soon finds himself marginalized and must suffer the aversion of those who consider him nothing more than a rugby player.
