Tibetan director Pema Tseden presented his new film, Qiqiu, in the Orizzonti section of 2019 Venice International Film Festival and came to talk with us about it. In this interview, we chat about the contrast between Buddhist theory and modernity that is dealt with in the movie, as well as how these contrasts influence the style of the film.
Qiqiu: On the Tibetan grasslands, Darje and Drolkar live a serene and ordinary life with their three sons and the grandfather. A condom sparks a series of embarrassment and dilemma, breaking the harmony of the family. What matters more in the circle of life and death, soul or reality?
