A conversation with David Herdies and Georg Götmark, directors of Bellum – The Daemon of War. The film will have its world premiere in the International Feature Film Competition of the 2021 Visions du Réel. The documentary takes a meditative look at the theme of war, particularly by exploring the lives of three different characters who are linked to it in different ways, and via poetic narrative interludes. In this interview, the directors talk about the origins of their collaborations as well as those of this film, the points of view on the theme of war that Bellum offers and more.

Bellum-The Daemon of War : War has always been the fate of humanity, its form evolving with “progress” over the ages. But the advent of artificial intelligence and the hyper-digitalisation of weapons is a game changer. In these new conflicts, which are increasingly remotely operated, the front seems to take the shape of a new demon. Bellum-The Daemon of War offers an equally chilling and fascinating consideration of this.
