INCinema - Il Festival per Tutti

INCinema – the festival for everyone returns to Florence, the city where its journey began, with a new stop scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Cinema La Compagnia. The event is organised in collaboration with the Fondazione Sistema Toscana and confirms the strong bond between the festival and the Tuscan region, where INCinema first took shape in October 2023.
Conceived by Federico Spoletti and directed by Angela Prudenzi, INCinema is the first Italian film festival designed to ensure a fully accessible experience also for people with sensory disabilities. Since its inception, the project has worked to make cinema a truly shared space, capable of welcoming diverse audiences without distinction.
At the heart of INCinema lies a clear idea of universal accessibility, understood not as an additional service but as a structural element of the cinematic experience. All films in the program are presented with subtitles for deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences directly on screen, while audio description for blind and visually impaired viewers is available via the free Earcatch app.
The focus on inclusion extends beyond screenings: all accompanying activities, such as masterclasses, meetings with filmmakers, and Q&A sessions with actors and directors, also feature real-time transcription to ensure full participation for people with hearing impairments. This approach aligns with the European Accessibility Act, which came into force in June 2025 and represents a key milestone for the audiovisual sector.
The Florence date of INCinema features two fully accessible screenings that engage in dialogue with one another despite belonging to different cinematic traditions and eras.
At 7:00 PM, the program opens with Radiance (Hikari) by Naomi Kawase, shown in the original language with Italian subtitles. The film follows Misako, a writer of audio descriptions for cinema, and her encounter with Nakamori, a photographer suffering from a degenerative eye disease. A story that intertwines vision, loss, and human connection, placing perception and the act of seeing at its core. Admission to this screening is free.
At 9:00 PM, it will be time for The Way We Were by Sydney Pollack, presented as a tribute to Robert Redford. The film tells the story of the relationship between Katie and Hubbell against the backdrop of McCarthy-era America, exploring the tension between political ideals, personal feelings, and social identity.
After its Italian stops in Udine, Trieste, and Florence, INCinema will continue its journey abroad, with two international events scheduled in London and New York in the coming months. This expansion reflects the growing interest in a festival model that combines film programming with cultural responsibility.
At the same time, thanks to a collaboration with MYmovies One, six accessible titles will be available online throughout the year, further expanding access and reaching an even wider audience.
