PODCAST | Chiara Nicoletti interviews Esmeralda Azkarate-Gaztelu Carro, from the Aptent Soluciones SL and Teatro Accesible.
Esmeralda Azkarate-Gaztelu Carro is currently the Director of Accesibility and Translation contents at Teatro Accesible (Aptent Soluciones). She also teaches theatre audio description at the MA in Audiovisual Translation, Localisation, Subtitling and Dubbing from the Universidad de Cádiz (Spain). At ARSAD 2017 she presented her Teatro Accesible, a project that has been running for over 5 years now, providing accessibility services in different theatres, festivals and cities throughout Spain. On FRED she describes her first steps in accessibility and how difficult, challenging but rewarding it is to audiodescribe a theatre play.
Since its beginning in 2007, the international seminar on audio description ARSAD has been a meeting point for all key agents interested in both research and practice in audio description. Its sixth edition, to be held in Barcelona on March 16th (all day) and 17th (morning) 2017, aims to take stock of recent advances while looking at the future of the field. ARSAD 2017 would like to engage practitioners, researchers, trainers, trainees, regulators, broadcasters, users, social activists, cultural managers, and anyone interested in audio description in a fruitful discussion on the past, present and future of audio description.
