After the success at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival of his last film Tangerine, shot entirely with an iphone, for his new film The Florida Project Sean Baker tells FRED’s Chiara Nicoletti about the decision of shooting in 35mm. The film was presented in the Quinzaine des Realizateurs at the Festival de Cannes and revolves around the life of a very young single mother (Bria Vinaite) and her 8 years old daughter living in motel in the neglected areas close to Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida. On FRED Baker reveals why he decided to use the children’s point of view in the story and why he focused on a single mother instead of a different kind of family.
The Florida Project tells the story of a precocious six year-old and her ragtag group of friends whose summer break is filled with childhood wonder, possibility and a sense of adventure while the adults around
