PODCAST | Matt Micucci interviews Steve Massa, author of the book Rediscovering Roscoe: The Films of “Fatty” Arbuckle.

A conversation with film historian Steve Massa, who recently published a book on early slapstick comedian Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle, which he presented at this year’s Limited Edition of the Pordenone Silent Film Festival.

Arbuckle was a prolific film star and auteur, as well as the most famous stars in cinema of his day, yet his career came to a crashing halt following a scandal that continued to taint his reputation to this day. Massa’s book aims to turn attention back to his movies, and he talks about it in this interview. He also takes the time to talk about The Silent Comedy Watch Party, an online series of silent comedies he has been hosting during much of the quarantine period with musician/historian Ben Model.
