Interview during the 82nd edition of Venice International Film Festival with Mona Fastvold, director of the film “The testament of Ann Lee”, and actress Amanda Seyfried. The production, in competition in Venice Film Festival 2025, shows us the journey of the leader of a religious cult, in the middle of the XVIII century, from Europe to the United States.
During their interview with FRED Film Radio, our guests talked about the historical importance of Ann Lee, a women forgotten in our present that gave shape to a diverse and inclusive community. When asked by the opportunity to change the minds of the viewers with the film, Amanda Seyfried answered that she still believed in an audience that could relate strongly with the movies.
“The testament of Ann Lee” depicts the journey of the protagonist and the consolidation of the ‘shakerism’ in America. The film is a musical that extracts the lyrics for the songs from the prayers of the community. Alongside with Seyfried, Thomasin McKenzie and Lewis Pullman are part of the cast.
