Fyzal Boulifa brings an unusual relationship be tween mother and son to the scree with his film The damned don’t cry. Besides the homage to the classic film in the title, this is a story of a search for a place to call their own by this couple, who love and hate each other , who are jealous of each other and could not live apart. A challenge for the director, as he tells us.

The damned don’t cry: Atima-Zahra and her teenage son Selim move from place to place, forever trying to outrun the latest scandal she’s caught up in. When Selim discovers the truth about their past, Fatima-Zahra vows to make a fresh start. In Tangier, new opportunities promise the legitimacy they each crave but not without pushing the volatile mother-son relationship to the breaking point.
