This year, the International Film Festival of Macao (IFFAM) celebrated its third edition, and we sat down to talk about its evolution and objectives with Mike Goodridge, its artistic director. He tells us about how one of the main objectives of the festival is to cultivate a film audience and community here in Macao, as well as to inform filmmakers on aspects of the film industry they may not be aware of. We also talk about the role of media within a festival such as this – particularly the international media. Besides this, Goodridge discusses the selection of the films in competition and the inclusion of classic titles in the program, says a few words on actor Nicolas Cage (who was presented with an honorary IFFAM award this year) and more.
