PODCAST | Laura Della Corte interviews Verena Paravel, director of the film The Fabric of the Human Body.
In the interview with Verena Paravel director with Lucien Castaing-Taylor of The Fabric Of The Human Body at Festival dei Popoli we talked about a place that experiences daily confrontation with pain, illness, death, the extreme experiences of the human condition. Gradually overcoming all limits, without ever losing its compositional and rhythmic rigor, we talked about the fact that the film shows us how human flesh can become an extraordinary landscape that exists only through the gaze and attention of the other.
The Fabric Of The Human Body: A portrait of five hospitals in the northern districts of Paris, told through innovative medical imaging technologies, a means of creating a multifaceted portrait of the human body, the medical profession and the French capital. The room travels with an almost “Wisemanian” attitude moving through the corridors, passing from the clinics to the operating theaters to the morgue but then accompanies the probes, the scalpels, enters directly into the flesh, forces the eye to participate actively and extremely in the surgical operations and to overcome the limits of the visible and the bearable.
