Intervista a Xin Alessandro Zheng, regista del cortometraggio Where the Leaves Fall, presentato alla Settimana dell Critica (Sic@Sic), sezione parallela e indipendente della Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica di Venezia. Zheng parla del suo film, del suo rapporto con la sua cultura d’origine e di quanto ci sia di autobiografico nel film. Il film è il progetto di tesi di Zheng per NABA, la Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, e la docente Marianna Schivardi, che ha supervisionato il progetto, ci parla del processo di produzione per i cortometraggi NABA.

Where the Leaves Fall: Giacomo, giovane italo cinese di seconda generazione, viaggia fino alla contea di Wencheng per riportare a casa le ceneri del padre scomparso prematuramente. Nella città natale dei propri genitori è ospite del nonno, che diventerà la guida sui sentieri dimenticati della sua cultura d’origine, ormai lontana anni luce dalla sua vita quotidiana, di ventenne europeo.
