“Conversation with” at the 20th Marrakech IFF, interview with actor Willem Dafoe Bénédicte Prot
Emerging film director from Switzerland, Sinan Taner is taking part to the 8th edition of the Future Frames Program at the 59th Karlovy Vary Film Festival with his short graduation film “1:10 “.
With the Future frames programme for talented young directors, the European Film Promotion EFP takes ten outstanding film school graduates from throughout Europe to the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (Czech Republic). The directors get the chance to present their short films to the international industry and the public at the prestigious A-list film festival.
“1.10“ is inspired by the director’s personal experience during his childhood and it has been screened around the world, from Clermont-Ferrand to Istanbul, San Francisco, Busan and Lisbon.
“1:10“, which deals with an harmless argument between two children that ends in death threats between the two fathers, to quote Taner, “has two main storylines that are reflected in the themes they explore: on the one hand, the conflict between the two sons, which spills over to their fathers and later to all the adults; and on the other hand, the conflict between the customer and the employee, which affects the children. Both stories are linked by a chain reaction that ultimately affects everyone on site and leads to a kind of systematic collapse of social norms”.
An elementary school sports day gets out of hand. A harmless argument between two children ends in death threats between the two fathers. The collective overload shakes an entire society and unfolds into a microcosm of chaos. The cause and effect of violence reverberate in a fragile social construct. A distant view of the everyday.

In Fish River Anthology, Veera Lamminpää blends humor, melancholy, and stop-motion animation to explore the inner lives of dead fish in a supermarket. A surreal musical elegy that questions existence, value, and the overlooked beauty of everyday life.
