“Conversation with” at the 20th Marrakech IFF, interview with actor Willem Dafoe Bénédicte Prot
Chiara Nicoletti is a journalist and film critic. Born in Naples in the year Blade Runner and
E.T. were released, after graduating in International Political Science and completing a
Master’s in Public Relations, she finally began working in cinema — her lifelong passion
alongside music, her first love (in her parallel life she wrote songs).
In 2007 her first job in cinema arrived: the Taormina Film Fest. Starting as assistant to the
artistic director and festival coordinator, over the course of 10 editions she went on to serve
as a member of the artistic committee and eventually as co-director alongside Jacopo
Mosca. In the meantime she also collaborated with the Rome Film Fest, the MedFilm
Festival and many other projects. Since 2011 she has pursued a career as a journalist and
critic, beginning in radio with FRED Film Radio, whose founding she witnessed and for which
she is today a senior editor. Numerous freelance collaborations followed, many of which are
still ongoing: Movieplayer.it, Cinecittà News, Magazine 8½, La Rivista del Cinematografo,
Cinematografo on Rai1, and L’Unità. She is a moderator of talks, press conferences and
Q&As.
She is a member of the SNCCI — Sindacato Nazionale Critici Cinematografici Italiani
(National Syndicate of Italian Film Critics) — and, balancing children and cinema with equal
dedication, she sings in a Rome-based a cappella choir called Le Mani Avanti.
