FRED has the pleasure of meeting the celebrated Iranian filmmaker Mohsen Makhmalbaf, whose latest work THE PRESIDENT opened the Orizzonti section of the 71st Venice Film Festival. Set in a fictitious country and with an air of timelessness about it, this is the story of a selfish totalitarian who, after the break out of the revolution, finds himself having to suffer the poverty and general consequences of his reign in order for him and his little nephew to survive.
