Sandra Madi – Filmmaker – Saken
FRED’s Matt Micucci meets Sandra Madi, whose film “Saken” had its world premiere at IDFA 2014. She talks to us about the importance of the level of trust which existed between her and her subjects and the challenges of filming mostly inside the restricted setting of a room in a Palestinian hospital and with an immobile central figure.
“Saken” is a film about Walid, a man who has been caring for paralyzed Ibrahim in a Palestinian hospital for many years. An intimate film about politics and war, but also (and most importantly) about dependence and friendship.
