PODCAST | Angelo Acerbi interviews directors Verena Kuri and Sofia Brockenshire, who talk about their new movie One Sister, from the 73rd Venice Film Festival.
Kuri and Brockenshire tells us how it is to manage a four-hands-direction of a film with a defined and blocked budget and a determined schedule that cannot be moved, either. Some choices were forced but luckily so, as the film is well paced and intriguing and with a smart ending.
ONE SISTER. In a small Argentinian backwater town, a young woman sets out on a solitary search for her sister who has disappeared without a trace. When the family’s car appears in flames on the bank of a nearby river, Alba falls deeper into a world of bureaucratic frustrations, bringing her to the edge of despair. Her journey drags her back to the river, where a silent witness seems to provide the only calm that’s left.
"The Freshly Cut Grass" directed by Celina Murga and executively produced by Martin Scorsese is a tale of love passion and cheating, narrated in parallel with two similar stories that intertwine without ever cross.
Jackie Chan will receive the 2025 Pardo alla Carriera at the Locarno Film Festival. The beloved action star will also present screenings of Project A and Police Story, followed by a public panel on August 10.
Juliette Binoche leads a distinguished jury featuring Halle Berry, Payal Kapadia, Alba Rohrwacher, Leïla Slimani, Dieudo Hamadi, Hong Sangsoo, Carlos Reygadas, and Jeremy Strong at the 78th Festival de Cannes.
