“Conversation with” at the 20th Marrakech IFF, interview with actor Willem Dafoe Bénédicte Prot
PODCAST | Cristiana Palmieri interviews Ruth Borgobello, director and screenwriter of the film The Space Between, which screened at the 2016 Lavazza Italian Film Festival.
Ruth Borgobello talks about her own journey as an Australian Italian and how her double belonging has influenced the making of her debut feature, The Space Between, and her artistic career more broadly.
The Space Between is the first Italo Australian co-production, marking the beginning of a new era of film production across two hemispheres.
THE SPACE BETWEEN is an emotional tale of love and loss set in the evocative region of Friuli Venezia Giulia in North East Italy. It tells the story of Marco, a 35 year-old ex-chef, who has given up his career and any sense of hope to return to Udine in Northern Italy to nurse his ailing father. Even when offered a job at a restaurant in Melbourne, he declines using his father as the excuse. When tragedy strikes, the only glimmer of joy arrives in the form of Olivia, a spirited Australian chasing her dream of working in design while on a family mission in Udine. Against the stunning vineyards, rugged mountains and blue Adriatic of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, these two very different people find themselves at a crossroads that will change their lives forever.
