As the title suggests, the documentary is about the great poet/singer/songwriter but it also explores the life of a song as iconic as “Hallelujah,” the many ways it shape and moulds over the years, becoming its own thing. In this interview, Goldfine offers insight into the multi-year work that this project required and the challenge of working within a structure that is different from the typical biographical documentary. She also shares her personal memories of first becoming aware of Leonard Cohen and more.
