“Elio“, the new Pixar movie adventure is ready to conquer Italian cinemas from June 18th, 2025.
Directed by Madeline Sharafian, Domee Shi and Adrian Molina, and produced by Mary Alice Drumm, the film will introduce us to Elio, an 11-year-old whose biggest wish is to get abducted by aliens.
Elio features the voices of Yonas Kibreab as Elio and Zoe Saldaña as Aunt Olga.
In Italy to present the film to the italian audience, directors Madeline Sharafian and Domee Shi along with producer Mary Alice Drumm talk about the making of “Elio” and focus on the themes the film explores as the coming of age story and the reflection on wars and conflicts and the constant struggles for equality.
In the end, as Domee Shi states, “It all starts with Elio and our goal is trying to have you empathize with him, understand him and go on this journey with him”
Plot
For centuries, people have called out to the universe looking for answers—in Disney and Pixar’s all-new feature film “Elio,” the universe calls back! The cosmic misadventure introduces Elio, a space fanatic with an active imagination and a huge alien obsession. So, when he’s beamed up to the Communiverse, an interplanetary organization with representatives from galaxies far and wide, Elio’s all in for the epic undertaking. Mistakenly identified as Earth’s leader, Elio must form new bonds with eccentric alien lifeforms, navigate a crisis of intergalactic proportions, and somehow discover who and where he is truly meant to be.
