PODCAST | Matt Micucci interviews Jerzy Skolimowski, who received a Golden Lion for lifetime achievement at the 73rd Venice Film Festival.
The great Polish director Jerzy Skolimowski received a Golden Lion lifetime achievement at the 2016 edition of the Venice Film Festival. Skolimowski is one of the pioneers of Polish cinema particularly attached to the New Wave of the 1960’s – alongside others such as Andrzej Wajda and Roman Polanski (with whom he collaborated) – among others.
We ask him about this and also his choice of taking 17 years off from him filmmaking; which leads to a conversation about his connection to painting and his need to express himself in this way, which is radically different from filmmaking.
