PODCAST | Angelo Acerbi interviews Josh O’Connor and Eva Husson, actor and director of the film Mothering Sunday.
We met Josh O’Connor and Eva Husson on the red carpet at the Rome Film Festival for the screening of Mothering Sunday. We talked about that specific time after the First World War were men were few and crushed by guilt and expectations and women. Were still shocked by what happened years before. Eva talked about directing an adaptation of a book that was already very cinematic and about the pace of the narrative.
Mothering Sunday : England, 1924. It is a spring Sunday, and the young maid Jane Fairchild, an orphan, finds herself alone for Mother’s Day. Her employers, the wealthy Niven spouses, have gone out, and she has the rare opportunity to spend a beautiful day with her secret lover, Paul Sheringham, who is the son of the Niven’s neighbors, and is Jane’s great love, despite being in the process of getting married with another girl of his own social class, daughter of friends of the Sheringhams and a friend of Paul since the two were little. But an unpredictable event will change Jane’s life forever.
