Tobias Lindholm – director – A War
Tobias Lindholm came back to Venice after A Hijacking to present his latest effort, A War, where he works with actor PilouAsbaek once again.
In the interview he speaks about the relationship between the two, explained how he worked with Afghan people and real soldiers to build up a fiction as close to a documentary style as possible and how obsessed he is with what he calls “middle points” leading to “fake endings”.
A WAR: Company commander Claus Michael Pedersen and his men are stationed in an Afghan province. Meanwhile back in Denmark Claus’ wife Maria is trying to hold everyday life together with a husband at war and three children missing their father.
During a routine mission, the soldiers are caught in heavy crossfire and in order to save his men, Claus makes a decision that has grave consequences for him and his family back home.
