Frantic Attempts:It is a comedic tale about how it’s never too late for a coming of age. This is the basis of Dutch Film Critics’ Award Best Graduation Film Frantic Attempts by Joris Tobé, screening at the at the 57th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the EFP FUTURE FRAMES –Generation NEXT of European Cinema. With Robbert Bleij playing Matthias, a young man on a weekend course of self-discovery called “My Value on Earth,” paid by his girlfriend who just told him that He’s going a father, Tobé plays with the dramedy, the tragicomedy to definitely tell us and himself that we’re always coming of age, and it’s ok to wonder about our purpose in life and most importantly, we should always try to be better and do better.
