        On a star-studded evening in Luzern, Switzerland, the European Film Academy celebrated the 2024 European Film Awards, honoring the pinnacle of European cinematic artistry. Held at the stunning KKL Luzern on the shores of Lake Lucerne, the ceremony welcomed 1,000 international guests, nominees, and presenters. Streaming live across 18 countries and 30 platforms, the event marked the crowning highlight of the Month of European Film.
Leading the evening with an astounding five wins, Emilia Pérez emerged as the most celebrated film of the year. Directed by Jacques Audiard, the French production clinched the coveted titles of European Film, Director, Screenwriter, and Actress alongside the Excellence Award for European Editing.

Audiard further demonstrated his cinematic prowess by taking home this award as well.
Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez) won hearts with her performance, surpassing seasoned contenders such as Tilda Swinton (The Room Next Door) and Trine Dyrholm (The Girl with the Needle).
Abou Sangare (The Story of Souleymane) earned this recognition by standing out among big names such as Franz Rogowski (Bird), Ralph Fiennes (Conclave), and Daniel Craig (Queer).
The European Discovery – Prix FIPRESCI, which highlights debut directors, went to Halfdan Ullmann Tøndel for Armand.
Dedicated to fostering European cinema, the Academy unites over 5,000 members and champions cultural exchange and education. From industry debates to audience engagement, it continues to elevate European film on the global stage.
