FRED’s Matt Micucci meets COLM McAULIFFE, senior programmer and curator of the 59th Cork Film Festival who tells us about the short films programme at this year’s edition of the festival and also gives us an overview of the priceless opportunities the film festival offers filmmakers presenting their works here, not just with screenings but through industry and networking events. On top of that, he also tells us about a very special music event taking place at the festival that ambitiously attempts to re-imagine Jodorowski’s DUNE, re-imagines the startling imagery, ambition and sheer cinematic psychedelia of the great director’s doomed attempts to bring Frank Herbert’s classic sci-fi novel to life with live accompaniment from Europe’s premier purveyors of sonic devilment Gnod.
