The director and screenwriter, the producer and the editor of Melaza reveal the long process of the making of this first feature film and shed light on the situation of Cuban filmmaking now that the US embargo is over.
MELAZA: With the closure of its sugar mill, the little town of Molasses is devastated and lifeless. Aldo and Monica are a young married couple who want to find a way to survive together with the woman’s mother and child. By supporting each other, they are going to do everything they can to save their world without losing their faith.
The film premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and has enjoyed an amazing festival run.
