Xavier Picard, Hanna Hemila - Moomins on the Riviera #LFF fredfilmradio
Xavier Picard (Director and Co-Screenwriter ) and Hanna Hemila (Co-Screenwriter and Producer) – Moomins on the Riviera
FRED’s Matt Micucci meets filmmaker Xavier Picard and producer Hannah Hemila to talk about their animation film MOOMINS ON THE RIVIERA. They talk about the challenges of difficulties of channelling the spirit of the original Moomins comic strips and finding financing for a hand drawn animation feature film. They also talk about the importance of balancing the story line and its sense of humour in order to make it appealing for the whole family – children and adults.
Based on Tove Jansson’s much love characters, the Moomins (delightful hippo-like creatures) decide to take a trip to Riviera in order to experience life among the high society.
