At Kinótico, on the occasion of our special coverage of the San Sebastian Film Festival, in collaboration with FRED Film Radio, we talked to Todd Haynes, director of “May December“.

The american director is becoming a regular in Zinelmadia – San Sebastian Film Festival as he already presented here films like Wonderstruck and the documentary “The Velvet Underground”. Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman are the stars of this drama that will be released in the US on Netflix but in many European countries such as Spain and Italy, it will open in cinemas.

“May, December” will compete for the audience award at San Sebastian Film Festival in the Perlak section after competing for the Golden Palm in May at the latest edition of Festival de Cannes.

Plot

Inspired by true events. A teacher was arrested for having sexual relations with one of her 13-year-old students while she was married and the mother of three children. She was released after completing her sentence, but failed to respect the prohibition to see the boy again, becoming pregnant by him and spending another 7 years in prison accused of rape. Now, 20 years later, a Hollywood actress wants to make a film about their story.
