Dolores Fonzi – Actress – Paulina.

FRED’s Chiara Nicoletti meets Dolores Fonzi , absolute protagonist of PAULINA, second feature film by Santiago Mitre, in competition at the Semaine de la Critique 2015.

Dolores plays Paulina, a lawyer who decides to leave the big city and go in the countryside to teach students. After being attacked and raped during the night by a group of boys ( who she will discover to he some of her students), Paulina, unexpectedly, decides not to report them to the police against what her father and friends think.

We ask Dolores Fonzi why she thinks Paulina takes this decision. Dolores explains that Paulina doesn’t think Violence is the answer to this behaviour, that Police will only try to find someone to blame without caring to research the reasons why these kids acted this brutal way.

Paulina wants to do things her way and she takes a big responsibility for this decision, towards society and the other women

PAULINA: Paulina, 28, gives up a brilliant lawyer’s carrier, in order to dedicate herself to teaching in a depressed region in Argentina. In a rough environment, she sticks to her teaching mission and to her political engagement, accepting to sacrifice her boyfriend and the trust of her father, a powerful local judge.

Upon her arrival, she is violently aggressed by a gang of young people, some of them being her own students. Despite the trauma and the inability to understand, Paulina will strive to stand for her convictions.
