Joel Snyder is an institution when it comes to accessibility in the USA. He can be considered as The Voice of Audiodescription in America. at the Arsad Joel Snyder has presented its research on the history of audio descritpion, from prehistoric times to present. With the Obama administration, a lot of attention and funds have been granted to accessibility activities and many big events, including Obama’s election and entrance at the White House have been audiodescribed by Joel Snyder himself and his team. Snyder comments on the new Trump era and its affecting rules and regulations on accessibility in the US.
In this fast-paced review of the history of audio description, Dr. Joel Snyder will guide attendees from prehistoric times to the present, chronicling how description has been employed regularly if not professionally by companions and family of people who are blind or have low vision. Audio description can no longer be considered in its infancy — perhaps it is in its adolescence, with new techniques on the horizon, broadening access to new media for increased numbers of people who are blind or have low vision.
