Albert Serra is a creative genius, a de-constructor of the classical filmmaking and a passionate director, in every way. He tells us about the way he made the film, his peculiar misuse of the screenplay, his very personal method in actors’ direction, in a film that is an overwhelming ride.

Pacifiction: On the French Polynesian island of Tahiti, the High Commissioner of the Republic and French government official DE ROLLER is a cal- culating man with flawless manners. His somewhat broad percep- tion of his role brings him to navigate the high end ’establishment’ as well as shady venues where he mingles with the locals. Especially since a persistent rumor has been going around: the sighting of a submarine whose ghostly presence could herald the return of French nuclear testing.
