After the success of his previous film The Myth of the American Sleepover presented at SXSW and La semaine de la Critique in 2010, David Robert MItchell is back in Cannes Critics’ Week selection with his new film IT FOLLOWS.
For 19-year-old Jay (Maika Monroe), the fall should be about school, boys and weekends at the lake. Yet after a seemingly innocent sexual encounter she suddenly finds herself plagued by nightmarish visions; she can’t shake the sensation that someone, or something, is following her. As the threat closes in, jay and her friends must somehow escape the horrors that are only a few steps behind.
With this second film David Robert Mitchell proves the audience that there’s nothing scarier than something evil following you and that you cannot see or defeat. IT Follows is a very well mixed cocktail of a few blood stains, a big amount of fear, a constant tension and some old 70’s horror movies’ atmosphere.
