FRED is pleased to present the fifth episode of Accessible Cinema, a new periodical programme on media accessibility and inclusion, fostered by Sub-ti Access. This programme aims to inform its listeners and keep you updated on the status of media accessibility. We hope to raise awareness on accessibility in media and live entertainment, which is one of the 8 priority areas of the European Disability Strategy 2010 – 2020.
Jan Pedersen is Associate Professor in Translation Studies, Director of The Institute for Interpreting and Translation Studies, and Deputy Head of the Department of Swedish Language and Multilingualism at Stockholm University. He is the organiser of the 8th Media for All International Conference entitled Complex Understandings tells us more about the complexities for audiovisual translation (AVT) and media accessibility (MA). Agnieszka Szarkowska, is Associate Professor in the Institute of Applied Linguistics, University of Warsaw. She is one of the keynote speakers at the 8th Media for All International Conference and organiser of the upcoming 5th International Conference on Audiovisual Translation INTERMEDIA. Jan-Louis Kruger is Head of the Department of Linguistics at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia where he also teaches audiovisual translation. He is one of the keynote speakers at the 8th Media for All International Conference and we will discover with him what happens to the viewer experience in the age of universal access.
Finally, Anna Matamala, BA in Translation (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) and PhD in Applied Linguistics (Universitat Pompeu Fabria, Barcelona), is an associate professor at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Barcelona), where she teaches audiovisual translation.
