PODCAST | Matt Micucci interviews Gregor Valentovic, director of the film Kid.
European Film Promotion (EFP) presents ten outstanding young directors from Europe with their latest work at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival every year. This is an interview with director Gregor Valentovic, representing the Slovak Republic at this year’s edition, and presenting his short film Kid. In this interview, he explains why he describes the film as a coming of age drama that happens a little later in life. He also talks about his mission of finding art in ordinary, everyday life, the influence of music on his films and more.
Kid: Hana is getting married, Maja is moving in with her boyfriend, Bažo is off to Canada, but there are no radical changes in David’s life. His friends grow distant, and now he must face the problem of dealing with his newfound loneliness. A congenially energetic film about the void that often grows between the world of carefree partying and the settled life of adulthood.
