Jean-Christophe Folly - I Comete - A Corsican Summer #IFFR2021 fredfilmradio
PODCAST | Matt Micucci interviews Jean-Christophe Folly, actor of the film I Comete – A Corsican Summer.
A conversation with Jean-Christophe Folly, one of the lead actors from Pascal Tagnati’s film I Comete – A Corsican Summer. The choral fiction film, depicting life on a Mediterranean resort on the Corsican island over the course of one summer, received a special jury prize at this year’s International Film Festival Rotterdam. In this interview, Folly talks about working with the director and connecting with his character. He also talks about his theatre background, connecting with the Corsican landscape and more.
I Comete – A Corsican Summer: The first feature film from Corsican theatre-maker, actor and author Pascal Tagnati is set in a Corsican village in summer. The locals flirt, swim, party, shoot the breeze and fight (“keep your hands off my sister”). The static camera observes the villagers, often in long takes – a little like the girl who says she is trying to create “a moment of life” through her photos. We regularly hear traditional songs sung in Corsican dialect, culminating in the heartrending ‘La mort de Filicone’.
