FRED’s Chiara Nicoletti interviews young director RobertDoobay to know everything about his Cannes adventure.
The story takes place in Florida, where Robert studies at the University of Central Florida. With the help of two friends, in february 2015, he participates with his short film THE GRIND at the Campus Movies Fest and takes home the Top Four and Best Directing awards.
In early April, Robert receives an email from Campus Movies Fest saying that his short film was selected to be screened at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival in France.
Robert doesn’t want to miss this opportunity but Cannes is an expensive place to reach and to stay in so he gets the original and excellent idea of trying to crowfund his trip through GO FUND ME. The rest is history. In Cannes, Robert is not only screening his film THE GRIND in the Campus movies Fest section at the Festival but, since he’s enrolled with the Creative Minds Filmmaker’s Institute Program, he will be creating a 5-minute short in 7 days during his stay in France.
