The Switzerland Film Commission, network of the four film commissions of the country (Ticino Film Commission, Valais Film Commission, Film Commission Lucerne and Central Switzerland and Film Commission Zurich), represented by Tristan Albrecht (Valais FIlm Commission) was one of the protagonists of the panel “What’s new in Film Commission Incentives” which opened the first VPB Location Market. This is the interview with the directors of all four film commissions.

A new Collaboration between Ticino and Valais Film Commission and Valle D’Aosta Film Commission

Lisa Barzaghi (Ticino Film Commission) Tristan Albrecht (Valais Film Commission) explain the new partnership between Ticino, Valais, and Valle D’Aosta, which was signed on September 6th in Venice, aimed at fostering collaborations and co-productions among the regions. The agreement underscores their shared language, territory, and infrastructure, making joint projects more feasible. These regions, closely linked geographically and culturally, are looking to develop projects with young producers and creative teams over the next two years, involving meetings and project development in the near future.

Incentives and facilities offered by the four Film Commissions

Tristan Albrecht highlights the incentives in place, such as a cash rebate system offering 100,000 francs per project for feature films and series, and speaks about the new Studio 13, serving as a shooting location with green screens and supporting international productions. The first Swiss-Italian co-production to use it was, The Rope by Alberto Fasulo, in this year Venice Gap Financing Market Selection.

Lisa Barzaghi discusses increased regional support in Ticino through incentives like the Locarno Region Film Fund, offering up to 40% cash rebates on local projects. Swiss Italian-speaking production receives special focus through dedicated development and distribution funds.

Dino Malacarne speaks about Film Commission Zurich, which works closely with Zurich Film Fund, the biggest regional film fund (around 12 M CFH).

Lili Kaelin discusses the existing support  of Lucerne and Central Switzerland Film Commission that will be enhanced and speaks about the shooting of the Prime series Superior.
