“For many, many years I said no. And that was because I didn’t see it. I couldn’t get my head into that world. And over the years I’ve heard pitches and it just wasn’t there. And then Chloé Zhao came to me and said, this is my life, this is my dream, this is what I see. And what she laid in front of me was the first time I said, oh, I see that”. Sarah Michelle Gellar explains to FredFilmRadio why she’s decided to come back to Buffy’s world, taking part to “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” Reboot Project.
The actress, one of the protagonist of the 8th edition of Filming Italy Sardegna Festival, talks about her return in a role of the slayer in a tv series that it’ll be different from the original one.
“That’s because the world we live in today is different – she says – It’s not a world where you can run away from home at two in the morning and your parents ask, where did my daughter go? Because this is a world where the phone with the GPS tracks you, in reality your parents always know where you are. So I think it’s important to follow Buffy’s project, bringing it inside a story that tells the borders, the space-time, that concern today’s society. What it is like now to be an outsider in a world of perfect social media”.
